The Weekly Letters, by A. Pedersen Wood

January 20, 2000

Dear Everyone:

Not much time for Letter-writing these days.  Working just about every night in the big push to get this Destruction all out by the end of the month.  This can result in my being a little tired in the mornings.

Luckily, thanks to “Marshall”, I have lots of tea.  For Christmas, “Marshall” signed me up for a kind of “Tea of the Month” club.  Actually, it’s two kinds of tea each month, for six months.  So far, I have four kinds of tea to choose from.

Since the teas are delivered to my office (the box would never fit in my mailbox), and since, God knows, I spend a lot more time at the office than at home, I use the teas at work.  In fact, a small group of us has formed a little tea-appreciation club.

Each morning, I select one of the teas and load up my Mrs. Tea® .  This is a lot like a small Mr. Coffee and, in fact, is made by the same manufacturer.  I put up a sticky note declaring which tea is the “Tea of the Day”, and all are welcome to try it out.  Later, we can discuss the relative merits of Darjeeling over English Breakfast, or Assam Golden Tip versus Pumphreys’ Blend.

So far, Darjeeling is my favorite, subject to change without notice, of course, once the next pair arrives.

In other news…

I did finally get in to see my eye doctor.  I got the Reminder Notice last November, and when I called to make an appointment, January 11th was the first date available (busy doctor).  As soon as I got the new prescriptions, one for progressives and one for the computer, I faxed them off to Cousin “Perry” in “Oakley”.

I like using “Perry’s” optician’s office, not only because he’s family and can use the work, but because his selection of frames is so superior to the mall places.  Also, I discovered that I can get three pairs of glasses from “Perry” for about what one pair costs at the mall.  You pay a lot for that “about an hour” convenience.

Plus, the last time I tried to get AR lenses (Anti-Reflective) at the mall, they told me it would be 10 days before they could get the lens material in.  “Perry’s” office called me by that Friday to say the lenses were already in and I could come up any time to pick them up.

So, this Saturday, “Jeannie” and I will head up to “Oakley”, pick out new frames and go to brunch while “Perry” fits the lenses in.  After we eat, we’ll go back to “Perry’s” to have the new glasses fitted.  Then “Jeannie” goes to get her hair cut and I will make the usual trek to the office to process more destruction data.

Another exciting weekend with the Wild and Woolly Wood Women.

Love, as always,

Pete
