Dear Everyone:
Those fun-loving
rascals in RACS have decided to throw a big party.
You remember RACS, Records Analytical & Consulting Services,
comprising 25% of my customer base.
Well, they decided to hold a Records Management Conference in San
Francisco this month.
They’ve invited all
the best people, which is to say, the Company’s Records Coordinators.
These are the folks who distribute Destruction Reviews, develop
Retention Schedules and generally try to convince the people in their
respective work groups that records really are a little more important
than pond scum.
RACS is doing
themselves proud. They have
three days planned. Opening
ceremonies. A General
Address Speaker. A Keynote
Speaker. Lunches provided.
Breakout “workshops”.
The whole nine yards. They
figured they’d being doing really well if as many as 40, or even 45,
people agreed to come.
Imagine how thrilled
they are now to be facing a crowd of
over 140.
That’s how many were coming at the last count.
They have people coming from all over the US, Canada and Africa.
That’s a lot of tuna sandwiches to make.
And imagine how
thrilled I am to be presenting two sessions on Records Destruction.
Yep, I’m Queen of Destruction again.
It’s like the
Hydra of
ancient Greece. Every time
you chop its head off and think you’ve killed it for sure, two more
heads grow back.
In other news...
“Jeannie” has a
friend in her knitting class who was asking if anyone could give her a
list of good videos to rent.
Seems she’s planning on having a lot of time on her hands.
“Jeannie” thought, “I bet I know where there’s a
lot of movie reviews.”
So she called and asked if I have copies of old Weekly Letters.
Such a question!
We figured she could
look through some files and maybe copy the review parts, using my PC.
Last Sunday, “Jeannie” came over and started going through seven
years worth of Letters. I
suggested she start around 1992, since I
think that’s when I started giving opinions on things like “Steven
Seagal can’t act his way out of a paper bag”.
(He still can’t. It’s
just that more people know it now.)
She started looking
just for “Movie review...”, but soon fell victim to one turn of phrase
or another. After several
hours, she had “tagged” a few Letters, but was still hopelessly mired in
1992. And besides, I was
using the PC. We’ll try some
other approach this next weekend.
By the way, we
finally saw
Apollo 13.
Good in a wholesome, apple pie sort of way.
Not much suspense, of course, since you know they’ll make it
back. But it was interesting
to see how they would do it.
Or rather, how they did it.
Love, as always,
Pete
PS.
The Christmas List is enclosed for immediate members of the
family. “Jeannie” did it
this year, so I’m sure it’s perfect.
