Dear Everyone:

Drum roll!! Fanfare!!

The townhouse is (finally) listed!!!

Many, many thanks to everyone who helped get it ready, especially “Jeannie” who worked many long hours and was last seen yesterday planting color spots in the front yard for added curb appeal.  I stopped by after work today and found a For Sale sign at the entrance to Carillo Court and another sign in the front yard.

Inside, my realtor had added many tasteful cards that read things like “Special Feature:  New Granite Countertops” in the kitchen.  There is a collection of flyers and her business cards on said counter.  We are officially in business.

Anyone who is interested in seeing it can click on this link:  [Doesn’t exist anymore].  Feel free to bid on it.  The realtor said we would look at any and all offers next Thursday.

On Monday, I met the realtor after work and we looked around the place.  There was still a lot of stuff in the outdoor storage closet and all the cleaning supplies in the laundry closet.  We decided to fill out all the paper work in her office the next day.

I stopped by after work on Tuesday to set out the garbage and recycle bins (Wednesday is pickup day.)  Then I drove down to Pleasanton to the realtor’s office.  We spent about a half-hour signing many forms.

On Wednesday I went back to put the bins back inside the carport.  “Jeannie” was there and she had cleaned out the storage closet and neatened up what needed to stay there, like some tools.  She had also removed all the cleaning supplies from what is now being called:  “Special Feature:  Laundry Area and Pantry.”

There was still the matter of two yellow lawn chairs that “Jeannie” had brought down from her place a few weeks ago.  They had been sitting on either side of the front porch.  We thought about putting them in the back seat of my car and taking them up to my new place.  Then I thought of donating them to the pool area.

But I had taken all the extra keys home and didn’t have a key to the gate to the pool area at the time.  So we left the chairs in front of the gate.  This afternoon, after a meeting that ran all the way to 4:30, I went back to the townhouse with a pool gate key.  Someone had already decided that the chairs were a good addition to the pool area and set them at the far end of the pool.  So they have found a good home.

In other news…

Back in the 60’s, when we were growing up in Lake Oswego, Oregon, we were friends with a family named “Cassidy”.  Their boys were the same age as our boys and some of their girls were the same age as some of our girls.  Last month, while I was at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, one of the “Cassidy girls” visited the Bay Area and called on “Jeannie”.

They had dinner at a restaurant in Walnut Creek called Vic Stewarts.  The building that the restaurant is in was originally the Walnut Creek Train Station.  In fact, “Jeannie” told me, she once took our mother to Vic Stewart’s and Mother remembered being in it as a girl when it was a Train Station.  I understand that “Jeannie” and the “Cassidy girl” had a very nice time.

And by the way, the Homeowners Association came through and patched the crack in the concrete under the step of the front porch at the townhouse.  So it really is ready.

Love, as always,

Pete
