Dear Everyone:
A really short Letter this week as I have just returned from “Grapevine” and am extremely tired due to all the dancing we had to do because the system we were there to train for is simply not ready yet. Plus I still have to unpack before I can go to bed tonight.
On a personal note, I am very pleased with myself. Last Saturday, as I was catching up on deferred viewing, I pulled together all the unfiled bills, etc., that have been lying around since the beginning of the year. Each time I paid a bill, I would place it in a “to-be-filed” basket. The basket had long since overflowed.
Likewise, when I opened a piece of mail, and the only action required was to file it, I would place it in another “to-be-filed” pile. In addition, a lot of mail that didn’t require immediate action had a tendency to accumulate on the dining table.
While I was watching TV, I systematically extracted actual bills from envelopes, discarding unnecessary inserts and so on. The bills were filed, according to subject, and the discards went into one of two piles: Recycle; or shred-and-then-recycle. Once these were completed, I told myself, “Don’t stop now! We’re on a roll here.”
So I filed all the occupants of the “to-be-filed” pile. Then I went through all of the “none-of-the-above” stacks. I actually saw the surface of the dining table for the first time in at least a year.
That felt really good.
In other news…
Having cleaned up all the filing, I went to a movie with “Jeannie” on Sunday. She wanted to see the new Matt Damon film, The Bourne Supremacy. In a word: Don’t waste your time and money unless you’re a real Damon fan. All they kept of the book was the title and one character’s name. Everything else was completely revised. Action sequences were inserted at any time that a plot might have come in useful. The character, Jason Bourne, was more of a pinball than anything else. Traditionally, bad movies are dumped in August. This one just started a few days early.
Love, as always,
Pete
