Dear Everyone:
Short Letter this week.
First, and foremost, Mother is
much better.
She was released from the hospital last Friday and is currently
being looked after in the “skilled
nursing” section of the
“Jeannie” has been in Oregon since the 14th, visiting Mother in the hospital and Marie Rose Center, arranging for a new doctor, taking care of bills and legal matters. She will, of course, be recompensed by her grateful siblings for her time, since she doesn’t make any money when she’s away from her work. But no amount of money can atone for being jerked around like an emotional yo-yo. It’s been a tough couple of weeks all around; but, as “Jeannie” puts it, we’re “slowly heading in the good direction”. Amen.
On a much lighter, and far less consequential note,
I’ve been scrambling to put together a Silent Auction for this week’s
ARMA June meeting.
(For those who can’t remember, ARMA stands for Association of
Records Managers and Administrators.)
I wanted to get as much done as possible, in case I suddenly had
to draft a “volunteer” to take the materials to the meeting room, which
is at the
I had originally thought to use something like 3X5 cards to indicate the Item Number, description, and who had donated it. But then someone told me to look in an office supply store for tent cards specially designed for inkjet printers like mine. Sure enough, I found some and was able to print very nice cards with the ARMA International logo and everything.
I did this one night last week, while cutting out more “Diablo Dollars” and trying to keep “Jeannie’s” cat from sitting on the printed tent cards. “Diablo Dollars” are funny money that members can earn by participating in chapter business and can only be used at the annual Silent Auction.
Last night, knowing that I would be picking “Jeannie” up at the airport after work today, I moved nearly all of the Auction stuff into my car. But it was still too warm out for candles and chocolates, so they stayed inside. This morning, I transferred everything to my office in “Pleasant Hill”. Tomorrow, be the good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, I’ll be able to transport everything to the Community Center after work and get set up before the dinner begins.
I also arranged for “goody bags” for everyone who comes to tomorrow’s meeting. Brightly colored lunch bags filled with toys, candy, Company logo pens and key lights, etc. I’ll put those together tomorrow.
“Jeannie” is finally back home and I’m printing this Letter while I take a quick shower before bed. Tomorrow is another day.
Love, as always,
Pete
