The Weekly Letters, by A. Pedersen Wood

October 31, 2001

Dear Everyone:

Short Letter again this week.  It’s Halloween, and writing upstairs while running downstairs every time some little person manages to reach the doorbell don’t mix too well.

Also, I have to pack.  I’m off to fun-filled Kern River tomorrow.  Where’s Kern River?  It’s a little town somewhere south of “Grapevine”.  It’s also a “subject” field.  Like Cymric, McKittrick, Taft, Lost Hills.  All “subject” fields.  All with small towns near them.  I know this because once upon a time, I managed the files about the “objects” in all those “subject” fields.  The longer you hang around, the more things come around.

Now that The Merger has happened, the FC People and the FT people are combining offices and consolidating organizations and this means a lot of moving.  (“FC” = Former Company; “FT = Former That Other Company.)  So I’m off to Kern River to explain about the new moving database and how it will make moving all those people easier.

Two of us will drive to Kern River in the morning, attend a meeting in the afternoon, stay in beautiful downtown “Grapevine” Thursday night, and return home Friday.  Then I’ll have the weekend to pack before leaving for “Hobby” next week.

The “Hobby” trip is for the Other Team, the Records Management one.  We’ve decided that some of the Technical Sub-Team members need a “face-to-face” meeting.  So it’s off to “Hobby” on Monday, three days of meetings, then home on Friday.  And I sincerely hope that will be the end of Business Trips for a while.

Even Mother complained that, with all this travelling, I’m not producing enough movie reviews.  Sorry about that.  But now, with the Holidays coming, and Oscar season nearby, we should have something worth reporting on soon.

In other news…

“Richard’s” family has changed their email address.  If anyone knows what it is, please send it to me.  Mother is in the process of changing her email address also.  And I sent out the Christmas List last weekend.  If anyone didn’t receive it, let me know.

Love, as always,

Pete

PS.  No Letter next week, due to “Hobby”-ness.  P.
