Dear Everyone:
Happy Birthdays,
“Frankie” and “Jeannie”!!!
“Livermore” is
really starting to come apart on us.
The renovation is in full swing now.
Starting on Monday, there have been workers pulling up old carpet
squares, releasing the lovely aroma of ancient epoxy.
It’s beginning to smell a lot like
King Tut’s tomb.
The workers have
dismantled the cubicles and succeeded in shorting out some exposed
wiring in the floor, thus knocking out half our connections to the
servers. As much as possible
has been relocated into the actual warehouse.
However, that does not quite include me.
I had to be out of
my office by Tuesday afternoon.
Luckily for me, I had a dental appointment that day (no cavities,
Mom!) and had to leave by 3:00.
As I was placing the last of my desk things into storage boxes, a
man was under the desk, taking it apart.
As of today, I am officially “homeless”.
I have no office, no desk, no phone and no (gulp!) computer.
This being my last day at work before taking
Christmas vacation,
I don’t intend to worry about it until next year.
“Alice”, “Kelly” and
little “Park” are due to arrive on Friday.
Mother and Dad will be here the following Monday.
We have a tentative plan to go out this Saturday and find a fresh
tree to cut down and bring home.
Maybe two. “Jeannie”
keeps changing her mind. But
this is normal. And I just
recently learned how to use my home PC to play CD’s, so we’ll have
Christmas music whenever we want it.
“Marshall” came up
from Fresno
last weekend and we spent some enjoyable time, and money, getting the
brunt of the Christmas shopping out of the way.
I “volunteered” to take “Jeannie’s” packages to the post office
along with my own. I needed
three trips to get everything mailed off.
People who are accustomed to receiving “Jeannie’s” packages a tad
late should brace themselves.
Beyond that,
everyone have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
Love, as always,
Pete
