Love, As Always, Pete

The Weekly Letters, by A. Pedersen Wood

Dear Everyone:

Yesterday morning, I seriously considered not wearing a coat to work (gloat, gloat) but it's just as well that I did.  Some big, dark clouds were looming on the horizon on my way home and we actually saw a few raindrops.  Since the reservoirs are all still officially below capacity, rain is welcome.  So much for the weather report.

“Jeannie” tells me that the other night, she woke up in bed to find not one, not two, but three cats sleeping with her.  One was quickly determined to be a non-resident and summarily evicted (i. e., tossed out the window from whence he came).  That's what happens when you leave the windows open all night while emitting a subconscious electromagnetic signal that says, "Here, kitty, kitty, kitty.”

Of her two official cats, Monroe, the original cat, has finally started growing her fur back.  She's been bald for quite some time, the result of "over-grooming", which is an indication of nervousness, possibly caused by the arrival, and subsequent moving in, of “Jeannie's” second official cat, Edison.  The fact that Monroe is no longer chewing off her own fur would seem to indicate that she'd gotten used to Edison.  She's tried smacking him in the nose a few times and, being the gentleman that he is, he'd just blink, look bewildered ("what do women want, anyway?"), and go take a nap.

As for Edison, “Jeannie” finally decided that, for a "white" cat, he was looking awfully "dishwater gray", so she took him to some professional groomers.  They shampooed him and combed out his fur; but, because he's a long-hair, the fur was badly matted on one side so they shaved him.  Now, on the right side, he looks like a fluffy kitty; on the left side, he looks like a new Marine recruit.  It's a wonder he doesn't fall over, he's so lopsided.  However, he's putting up with this indignity quite well.

Let's face it, where cats are concerned, “Jeannie” only attracts the ones with the best manners (not counting the midnight interloper--who was, after all, only trying to be friendly).

In other news…

Things are beginning to heat up at work.  My project is getting off to a promising start.  We scheduled two days this week for the Core Team to work on all the issues and problems (eight flip-charts full) that need to be resolved before we start testing.  But we did so well on the first day that we decided that we didn't need the second day.  Instead, we all came away with "homework" assignments.  We'll get together again when we have things to report back to the Team.

As for me, my little brain has been bubbling over with ideas for the past two months.  Every time I would think of an issue or a problem, or a possible solution to one, I'd write it down fast before it could fade away, and drop it into my file.  Now I'm beginning to tinker with ways to deal with this item or that.

I'll start working with something, like how to replace Owner Codes, and the next thing I know, it's after 6:00 and if I don't get a move on, I'm going to miss Star Trek.  Can't have that!

I have a new software on my PC that supposed to remind me to take breaks and go home at the end of the day, but I haven't had time to figure out how to use it yet.

Love, as always,

Pete
